DeKalb teen jailed in connection with shots fired Tuesday on Edgebrook Drive

DeKALB – A DeKalb 17-year-old is being held at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles in connection with an incident Tuesday where shots were fired in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive, DeKalb police Cmdr. Bob Redel said.

Redel said a man was in his car about 5:15 p.m. when he had a confrontation with the occupant of another car, who fired at him as he got out of the vehicle. Redel said in addition to several bullet holes in the car, many shell casings were found. He said that although no one was shot, the victim was hurt during the confrontation, but didn’t have to go to the hospital.

Redel said that after interviewing people about 9 p.m. Tuesday surveillance video from a nearby business helped police identify a suspect vehicle, which officers found and stopped about 10 p.m. in the 100 block of South Seventh Street.

Redel said the department is still investigating how many people were in the suspect vehicle and that more arrests could be coming
