Mikey Rogers had a pair of hits in the sixth inning, part of a 13-run outburst for the Kaneland baseball team in a 13-3 home win against Marmion on Tuesday.

Rogers scored twice in the final frame. Robbie Dudzinski, who pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win, hit a triple in the sixth and drove in two.

Luke Gomes, Angel Acevedo and Nik Panico each had two hits for the Knights.

Panico pitched 1 1/3 innings for the win.

Kaneland tops Rock Falls: The Knights won at home, 8-2.

NIU swept at Milwaukee: NIU lost a doubleheader to the host University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee by scores of 13-2 and 3-2 Tuesday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

NIU (19-34) took a 2-0 lead in the second game early on, but saw its advantage dwindle and ultimately vanish as the Panthers scored single runs in the second, third and eighth innings of the scheduled seven-inning contest.

“Disappointing finish to an otherwise solid midweek non-conference slate,” Huskies’ head coach Mike Kunigonis said. “They seemed to have our number in game one and in game two we couldn’t get the big hit to put us ahead later in the game.”

Both Szczasny and Jumonville led the offensive attack with three hits apiece over the two contests. Szczasny drove in two runs, including a solo home run in the sixth inning of the first game. Jake Dunham and Brad Wood each had a pair of hits for NIU as well. Blake Walker started Game 2 and worked three innings, striking out four batters.

NIU closes out the regular season at Eastern Michigan for a three-game set. The first game is 5 p.m. Thursday.
