To the Editor:
As the National Rifle Association and President Donald Trump advocate the hardening of schools, I am surprised that they are missing an obvious approach to protecting students from gunfire.
Why haven’t they proposed outfitting the kids with body armor? It would provide gun makers with a huge sales opportunity, and the possibilities for advertising slogans are fascinating.
How about the NRA flak jacket, guaranteed to allow “no ricochets anytime.” To keep the lower body safe, they could offer the Trump: save their rump with a Trump. And for the little tykes, there would be the Wayne LaPierre onesie.
Get with the program, folks!
