Forest Park man charged with DUI in crash that allegedly injured three

Rodson D. Barnett, 22, of Forest Park

SYCAMORE – A Forest Park man accused of causing a crash that injured three people while he was under the influence of marijuana was released Thursday afternoon on his signature – about half an hour after he was booked.

Rodson D. Barnett, 22, of the 1100 block of Elgin Avenue, was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection after police said he drove through a stop sign Sept. 12 at Five Points Road while going east on Base Line Road and caused a wreck.

A prosecutor with the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a motion to combine the traffic violation with charges of aggravated DUI after a blood sample Barnett gave was tested, court records show.

The records show Barnett has been charged with three counts of aggravated DUI, typically punishable by one to three years in prison – one for each person who was injured in the other vehicle involved in the crash.

The charges state the driver of the other vehicle and two passengers suffered great bodily harm or personal disfigurement, the records show.

Jail staff confirmed Friday that Barnett was booked at 11:58 a.m. Friday and released at 12:33 p.m.

Barnett is due back in court at
9 a.m. March 16.
