Northeast Illinois, including McHenry, Will and DeKalb Counties saw one to three more inches of snow from Monday to Tuesday, and still more is predicted, according to the National Weather Service.

The service warned of an elevated cold risk and a risk of more snow accumulating overnight Tuesday. Wind chills of 5 to 15 below zero were possible Tuesday morning.

Additionally, patchy freezing fog developed early Tuesday morning that is likely to continue through dawn. Visibility may decrease to one-quarter mile or less in some areas, and unsalted areas can become slippery.

Be especially cautious of ramps and bridges. The snow is expected to take a short break Wednesday and return Thursday through Saturday.
