SYCAMORE – The Sycamore School District 427 Board will receive an update on the Northern Illinois Big 12 athletic conference at its regular meeting Tuesday.

At the end of December, six of the 11 schools – LaSalle-Peru, Ottawa, Morris, Rochelle and Geneseo – in the NI Big 12 sent a letter to conference President and Kaneland athletic director Peter Goff, informing the league that they intended to leave in 2019.

Those schools had been invited to rebuild the Interstate-8 conference along with Sandwich and Plano.

Sycamore so far is remaining in the conference, along with DeKalb, Kaneland, Yorkville and Sterling. Principal Tim Carlson is expected to update the board on the changes and how it will affect Sycamore, according to the meeting agenda.

The director of athletics and activities, Chauncey Carrick, will also give the board a report on current happenings across the district.

Throughout the school year, the board will meet at different schools within the district. Tuesday’s meeting will be held at West Elementary School.

Principal Kristi Crawford is expected to give the board a presentation what is going on at the school. Other anticipated items include a report from a student representative of the Spartan Senate and reports from board committees.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at West Elementary School, 240 S. Fair St.
