First National Bank names new additions to community board of directors


First National Bank has named Dan Shepard, Robert Tighe and Jamie Walter to its Community Board of Directors.

“We are very pleased to welcome our new board members,” Market President Tim Struthers said in a news release. “These individuals demonstrate leadership, passion for community and dedication to economic growth in our Illinois market. I’m confident their experience and knowledge of their respective communities will bring significant value to the board.”

Dan Shepard is executive vice president of Thelen Sand & Gravel Inc., a construction supply company with locations throughout northern Illinois. He has held many corporate accounting and financial roles in real estate development and serves on the board of Puckett Land Company as director and treasurer. He also previously held board positions with the Homebuilders of Greater Chicago and Boys & Girls Club of Elgin; and was the past village president of Gilberts, Illinois.

Robert Tighe is the principal and co-founder of Tighe, Kress & Orr P.C., a full-service public accounting firm with locations in Elgin, Chicago and St. Charles. Prior to his current role, Tighe worked for Arthur Andersen and RSM McGladrey in Chicago.

He also served as an officer in the Army Reserve for 10 years. He is actively involved with many local and national professional accounting organizations and is a former member of the Illinois CPA Societies Governmental Report Review Board. Tighe serves on several boards, including the Better Business Bureau and Concordia University Chicago Foundation, and is an active community volunteer with the Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club of Elgin and Friends of Fox Valley Youth.

Jamie Walter is the co-founder and owner of several farming operations in the DeKalb area, including Walter Farms, Synergy Seeds, Integrated Farms and Whiskey Acres Distilling Co., where he also serves as president and CEO.

Walter is a board member for the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, DeKalb County Agricultural Literacy Committee, Kingston Mutual Insurance Company and Amber Waves Foundation. He is a frequent regional and national guest speaker on the topics of value-added agriculture, distilling and entrepreneurship for corporations, trade groups and nonprofit organizations.
